CULTIVATION PRACTICES OF PEA CHAPTER - 4 CULTIVATION PRACTICES OF PEA 4.1 CLIMATE : The pea crop grows best in areas having coolgrowing season of at least five months' duration. These conditions are met with in the plains of Punjab, Western Uttar Pradesh, parts of Rajasthan, Delhi and in the hills of Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradedsh, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. In other pea growing areas, as the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andra Pradesh, Eastern Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, the growing season is comparatively short and the winter mild.
